The Jan van Haasteren puzzles are drawn scenes full of comic incident, with something happening in every corner of the picture. They have appeared at Jumbo since the nineteen eighties and are known by the cartoon style and the jokes that return in every edition.
Why they are harder
Because the drawing consists of many small, busy scenes in similar colours, you cannot work from large areas of one shade. Puzzlers usually begin at the edge and then work scene by scene.
Sizes and levels
The series runs from 500 pieces to 1000, 2000 and even 5000. There is also a junior line with fewer pieces for children from about six years.
