Hexbug Robot Toys
Hexbug makes small robotic creatures that move on their own: nano bugs that scuttle across a smooth floor, mechanical fish for the bath and larger models that react to sound or turn away from an obstacle.
How they behave
The smallest models run on vibration, which is why they change direction when they meet a skirting board and why they need a hard floor rather than a carpet. The larger ones carry sensors and will follow a line or stop in front of a hand.
Sets and batteries
The track sets and habitats give the little robots somewhere to run, and several can be added together into one circuit. Keep spare button cells in the house: they are what the smallest models run on, and the battery compartments are screwed shut for good reason.
