The bottles come in stainless steel and in hard plastic, in sizes from about 350 to 500 millilitres, with a straw lid, a sports cap or a plain screw top depending on the model.
Which lid for which age
A straw lid is easiest for a child under about four and the least likely to end in a soaked jumper. A sports cap suits an older child who can bite and drink at the same time. Screw tops are the most leakproof of the three and the ones to take on a bike.
Keeping them clean
All the parts come apart, and the lids are the bit that needs attention rather than the bottle. Take the seal out of the lid once a week and rinse it separately; that is where a smell comes from if one appears.
