Keeping food cool
The padding holds a temperature for a few hours, which is enough for a morning at school. Put a small freezer block in with the food on a hot day; the bag on its own slows the warming down rather than stopping it.
Size and cleaning
Most models take a lunch box, a piece of fruit and a small bottle. Wipe the lining out at the end of the week with a damp cloth and leave the bag open to air, which is all it takes to keep it from smelling.
