Trivets

A trivet protects a table or a worktop from hot pans and dishes, and comes in wood, cork, silicone, cast iron and bamboo.

Heat-resistant material

Silicone and cast iron take high temperatures and wipe down easily afterwards. Wood and cork are lighter and look at home on a country or natural table, though they mark more readily under a very hot pan.

Fixed or folding

There are fixed trivets and extending or roll-up models that adjust to the size of the pan. The roll-up sort is handy when cupboard space is short, because it takes up hardly more room than a tea towel.
