American Football
An American football is the oval ball thrown with a spiral pass. Here you will find balls in youth sizes and official sizes, from soft foam ones for beginners to leather and rubber balls with a good grip.
Starting with foam or rubber
For children who are just beginning, a foam or soft rubber ball is the pleasantest: it does not hurt on the catch and is lighter to throw. Once the throw starts to come off, move up to a larger ball with laces.
Practising the spiral
Lay your fingers across the laces, bring the ball back behind your ear and let it rotate around its long axis with a turn of the wrist as you release. A spiral like that carries further and is far easier to catch.
