Hockey Sticks
A hockey stick is bought by body height: stood upright beside you, it should come up to about your hip. Here you will find junior sticks from around 24 inch, sticks for field training and lighter indoor sticks for the winter season.
Standing it beside you
Put the stick upright next to the player with the head on the floor. Around hip height is right for most children, and a stick that reaches the ribs will make the ball difficult to control low down. Buying a size up to grow into rarely works well.
Field or indoors
An indoor stick is thinner and lighter, because indoor play uses a smoother ball on a hard floor. For astroturf a field stick is the one to take, and with the right stick a child learns a clean push pass much sooner.
