Hockey Balls
A hockey ball is a hard plastic ball of about 156 grams. Here you will find smooth match balls, dimple balls for astroturf and softer, lighter balls for the youngest age groups and for indoors.
Smooth, dimple or soft
Smooth balls are used on wet astroturf and indoors and roll quickly. Dimple balls, with their small indentations, run better on dry, sandy astroturf. For the very youngest players there are lighter, softer balls that do not sting the hand.
Numbers and colour
For training, balls are usually bought in sets of six or twelve, often in a net or a bucket. White is the classic match colour; yellow and orange balls show up better in winter and against a pale indoor floor.
