Textile Paint
Textile paint is used to decorate t-shirts, bags, cushion covers and other fabric. The paint bonds to the fibre and stays there once it has been fixed, even when the garment is washed. There are pots with a brush and pens with a springy tip.
Fixing after painting
Let the work dry for twenty-four hours first, then iron it from the reverse for a few minutes at the temperature given on the packaging, usually with a cloth in between. Without that step the colour disappears in the first wash.
Preparing and washing
Wash new fabric once without softener, because the factory finish stops paint bonding. After fixing, slide a piece of card inside the garment so the paint cannot soak through to the back, and turn the item inside out when it goes in the machine.
