Table Tennis Balls
Table tennis balls have a standard diameter of 40 millimetres and are now made of plastic rather than celluloid. Here you will find them in sets and in value boxes, in white and orange, for home, school and the club.
What the stars mean
The stars printed on a ball indicate its quality. Three-star balls are the roundest and the most consistent, and they are what matches are played with. For a game at home or at a campsite, balls without stars are perfectly good and considerably cheaper.
Indoors and outdoors
On an outdoor table it pays to choose a slightly sturdier ball and to bring the balls inside afterwards. A small dent can sometimes be worked out again with warm water, though a crease in the surface is the end of that ball.
