ARK Therapeutic makes chewing and oral motor material that comes originally from speech and occupational therapy: chew sticks, chew tops for a pencil, chew pendants, and straws and spoons that exercise the mouth in a targeted way.
What it is used for
Chew material gives a safe alternative to children who chew on clothing, sleeves or pencils, whether from tension or from a need for input. Beyond that it is used to practise bite strength, tongue movement and mouth closure.
Hardness and shape
ARK works with several hardness levels, indicated by colour, from soft and yielding to extra firm for powerful chewers. Choose a shape that suits where it will be used, and replace an item once the surface starts to tear.
