Vases
A vase gives flowers or branches a place, and at the same time it decides what a bouquet is going to look like: tall and narrow, low and wide, or round-bellied.
Shape and bouquet
A narrow neck holds loose stems together and works well with a few branches or a handful of tulips. A wide vase gives a full bouquet the room to fan out, which is what it is meant to do, so the same flowers can look quite different in two vases.
Material and style
Glass shows the stems and suits practically any interior, though it does mean the water has to be changed before anyone notices. Ceramic and earthenware are opaque and work as an ornament on a cupboard or a table even when there is nothing in them.
