Counting without noticing
Dominoes is one of the best games there is for practising counting, because matching the dots is the whole game. Children from around five can play the standard rules with an adult keeping an eye on things. Rounds are short and a set costs very little.
Which set to choose
A double-six set is the usual starting point and suits two to four players. Double-nine sets add length and work better with a larger group. Wooden tiles feel better and last longer; plastic ones are lighter and easier to wipe clean.
