Teething Toys and Rings
Teething rings and grasping toys in wood, silicone and natural rubber, some suitable for cooling, all made to go straight in the mouth.
When teething starts
The first teeth usually arrive between four and eight months, and everything goes in the mouth long before that. A teething toy gives gums something firm to press against, which brings genuine relief. Cooled models work well, though the freezer is too cold.
Materials and cleaning
Untreated beech, food-grade silicone and natural rubber are the usual choices; all three should be free of added colouring on the parts a baby chews. Wooden toys are wiped clean rather than boiled. Check the seams and rings regularly for wear.
