Air-Drying Clay
Clay that hardens in the open air, in white, terracotta and colours, in small packs and large blocks, ready to paint once dry.
A model that stays
Unlike dough, air-drying clay keeps its shape for good, so a bowl or a figure can be given away or put on a shelf. That permanence changes how carefully children work. Most pieces are hard after twenty-four to forty-eight hours.
Working with it
Keep hands and clay slightly damp and join pieces by scoring both sides first, otherwise thin parts break off as they dry. Wrap unused clay tightly so it stays workable. Once dry, it can be sanded lightly and painted with any water-based paint.
