Avenir Craft Sets
Avenir makes craft sets that each concentrate on a single technique: painting, embroidery, mosaic, scratch art or stickers. Everything for the project is in the box, with a picture of the finished result on the front.
One technique per box
Because a set covers one technique rather than half a dozen, a child knows what is coming and can finish the whole thing in one sitting. That works well as a present, since the box makes plain from the outside what will be made.
Choosing by age and interest
Sewing and embroidery sets suit children who already have some patience in the fingers, usually from about six or seven; painting and sticker sets go a good deal younger. The small movements involved are the same ones that later matter for handwriting.
