Tealights and Tealight Holders
Tealights are small candles in an aluminium or plastic cup, made for use in a holder, a lantern or a warmer under a teapot. Here you will find both the lights themselves, usually in value packs, and the holders to put them in.
Burning time and size
A standard tealight is about four centimetres across and burns for roughly four hours. There are also maxi lights that burn considerably longer and need a wider holder. The diameter and the burning time are listed with each article, so it is easy to check that they will fit the holders already in the house.
Holders and use
Glass and metal holders spread the light and catch the wax, which is the whole point of using one. A lantern shields the flame enough to be used outside on a still evening, and a warmer keeps a pot of tea at temperature without cooking it.
