Which paint for which age
Finger paint is meant for toddlers who cannot yet handle a brush, and is thick and washable. Poster paint works well from about four on firm paper and card. A watercolour box asks for more control and suits school-age children. Acrylic covers almost any surface but never comes out of fabric again.
Brushes and cleaning
Use a thick round brush for poster paint and a fine one for detail. Rinse brushes in cold water at once and stand them on the handle, never on the hairs.
